For Iowa Hawkeye fans out there, there are only 3 months and 6 days left until the first football game of the (pre)season. However, for some, football practice kicks off a little bit sooner.
On June 9th, some lucky ladies will be joining Kirk Ferentz and the Iowa Football team for the Iowa Ladies Football Academy. The Iowa Ladies Football Academy is a charity event supporting the construction of the NEW University of Iowa Children’s Hospital. At the Academy participants will get to hang out at Kinnick Stadium, tour the locker rooms, work out on the field with Iowa players, AND “SWARM” the field and warm up to AC/DC’s “Back in Black!” (too cool!) To get there though, each participant has to raise at least $500 for the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital.
The University of Iowa Children’s Hospital is now recognized as one of the best children’s hospitals in the country. Currently, the UICH is a “hospital within a hospital,” with pediatric wards and clinics spread throughout different floors of the general hospital. With a new, free-standing, dedicated hospital, UICH will be able to provide the optimal healing environment for sick and injured children. Through a state-of-the-art facility, UICH will be able to attract the best and brightest doctors, nurses, and researchers. All of which adds up to being able to provide the BEST care for kids!
Please help out this great cause whether you’re a Hawkeye or Cyclone fan!! Do it for the kids! My friend Emily will be participating in this year’s academy and needs your help! If you would like to make a donation to this cause, please consider donating on her page so she can enjoy this AMAZING experience! Check out the video below if you are interested in participating in future Ladies Football Academies. (Sadly, this year’s registration is completely full!) I might have to be there next year! Better get training now!
